Two Days in Old Nauvoo

Nauvoo, Illinois -- Here the Saints gathered to build a beautiful city out of a swampy area next to the Mississippi River and to build a temple for the Lord.

Wednesday morning, Roger, Monica & James went to the temple while Carolyn, Dustin, & I tended the kids. Then we went to the temple while they tended the kids. When the Saints left Nauvoo to head for the Salt Lake Valley, the temple was burned down and eventually completely destroyed. Under the leadership of President Gordon B. Hinckley, the Nauvoo Temple was re-built using the historical drawings and plans of the original temple. What a great experience it was for us to be able to visit the Nauvoo Temple!

We had a lot of fun in Nauvoo.  Some of us got into things a little more than others..........

We went on wagon rides while the missionaries told us about the people who lived in Nauvoo many years ago....

And then we walked the road through Nauvoo that the Saints walked to the Mississippi River as they left their homes behind and turned their faces towards the Salt Lake Valley.
