The Merry Month of May

In 2011 we had a month of May like no other.  We went to the West Coast, the middle of America and finally to our home in the Rocky Mountains. Ammon turned 12 years old and was ordained to the Aaronic Priesthood by his father, Chad, on Sunday the 8th.

The very next weekend James became James Noonan, Esquire, with his graduation from the School of Law at the University of Illinois.

Later in the week we made our way through Indiana to Nicole and Matt’s home near Columbus, Ohio.

We were able to attend church on three Sundays in a row with our kids and grandkids, in Marysville,  Champaign, and Columbus. What a wonderful time we had together with family activities, priesthood ordinations and graduations.

Grandpa Montgomery went with us on the trip to Seattle. Chad served as our guide as we tried to find the house that Grandpa lived in when he worked at Boeing for a few months in his younger days.

We took a tour of the underground city in Seattle.

A must do was a fish meal at Ivor’s Fish Bar, which Grandpa remembered well.

Friday evening Khalina put on a show with her jazz band from school.  She's a percussionist and played the drums.  They were really good.

We went to the Boeing Aircraft museum on Saturday afternoon .............

............................and a ward party on Saturday evening.

We had a fine day at church and associated events on Sunday.

We spent 2 days at home and work, catching up on projects there, then Friday morning headed for the airport to fly to Indianapolis. Matt and Nicole picked us up for the trip to Champaign, Illinois for the visit with Monica and James and kids.

We had a great time Friday, Saturday and Sunday with James’s family and friends and our family who came for graduation. Graduation was impressive and quite a relief to husbands and wives, after so much work. Congratulations to all.

Monday and Tuesday we relaxed with Monica & James & family.

Wednesday we borrowed James and Monica’s Mercedes and drove to Ohio. We had a great time with Nicole and Matt. Thursday evening was a spiritual time as we attended the Columbus Temple.

Monica and James and Eliza, Laney and Liam came to Columbus and Friday morning we went to the Zoo.

Saturday was our trip to Kirtland, Ohio. We went by way of Cleveland and the delicious food market.

Kirtland was very beautiful and interesting. In a reconstructed building of Old Pioneer Kirtland, we were able to put in the computer the names of pioneer ancestors. Some of my ancestors lived in Kirtland and worked on the temple construction. Another participated in Zion’s Camp with Joseph Smith.

We packed a lot into our vacation, and we had a lot of fun!

That was so fun! And I'm glad you mentioned that you got to borrow our Mercedes. Now people know that we trust you a lot to borrow our FANCY car :). Just don't tell them about the rust or the paneling that is missing on the inside. Or the tapedeck. But you can tell them about the sweet tape holders.

We love you! Thanks again for making the trip. We miss you a lot and can't wait to see you NEXT MONTH!!!
