We just returned from a family reunion up at Grassy Lake with members of the Losee Family. For several years, it was an annual event for the family to gather at Grassy Lake (located in the mountains above Orangeville, Utah, and Joe's Valley Reservoir).
The family had a few narrow escapes driving up and down the steep roads under rainy conditions, and it was decided that maybe it was a little too dangerous to haul trailers up there. Then the reservoir was drained and the incentive to go up there was gone. So we started going somewhere else for the family reunions.
Over the last few years, when everyone gets together, we get really nostalgic and the talk sometimes turns to how fun it was at Grassy Lake. This year, Cindy (Roger's sister) & Justin were in charge of the reunion. They learned that the reservoir was full again and stocked with fish and that conditions were pretty good up there. So after some discussion, it was decided to try it again.
Starting Wednesday (July 16th), members of the Eugene & June Losee clan started gathering at Grassy Lake. There were a few members of each family missing from the gathering, but we still had quite a group up there. There was a rain storm Wednesday evening and, as in years past, some family members had stories to add to the Grassy Lake folklore. Something else that was new was the warnings that we were in bear country. (Happy to say that no bears showed up at our camp.)
Roger and I weren't able to go up until Friday morning. Carolyn & Dustin and their kids, Nicole & Matt, and Lynnette & Jim were the members of our family who were able to come up. We all arrived on Friday and set up camp. All the old ingredients were there, and you know what? It was just as fun as everyone remembered!
There was canoeing, swimming, fishing, & four-wheeling................
The usual potluck family dinner on Friday night..........
Followed by a treasure hunt for the "kids".......
....with real "buried" treasure!
There was the usual "smoky" bonfire in the evening..............
There was a pinata filled with candy.................
.....................................................and a fish pond!

All of the ingredients were there for a successful family reunion at Grassy Lake. But what really makes it a success is the family ........ Gene & June, you've raised wonderful children. Those of us that have married into the family have always felt a warm, loving welcome and are grateful for the values that you have passed on to your children and that are being passed on down through the generations. We're so grateful for your testimonies of the Gospel that you have shared with us and our children. We love you and are very grateful for all of your love and support through the years.
So, even though this isn't quite all of the family..............
LOOK WHAT YOU STARTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
